The Acme Clown Company uses popular theatrical traditions to amaze, educate, and entertain audiences of all ages.
Based in Chicago, Acme primarily produces and promotes the work of its Boss Clown, Chief Bottlewasher, and Big Cheese, Adam Gertsacov. Occasionally, we collaborate with other artists or organizations to create bigger or different shows.
Adam teaches, performs, and creates new work using puppetry, circus, clowning, mask, commedia dell’arte, and improvisation. We’ve produced historical shows about PT Barnum and Henry Hudson, puppet shows for children and adults, strolling shows for fairs, festivals, and parks, and theatrical shows for theatres and festivals and even the occasional wedding. Adam’s show The Acme Miniature Flea Circus has been performed in 37 states, 5 countries, been featured on Japanese and Australian radio and American television, as well as featured in articles in newspapers throughout the United States. It was even a question on Jeopardy!
